Having Spent All His Life On the Streets, Barney the Cat Finally Finds a Place He Can Call His Own

Having Spent All His Life On the Streets, Barney the Cat Finally Finds a Place He Can Call His Own

Five months prior, this 6-year-old tom feline was discovered gravely sick and conveyed to Chatons Orphelins Montréal as he required prompt medicinal consideration. "The kitty was living in a neighborhood (in Montreal, Canada). He survived the winter because he managed to fend for himself, even though one of his ears froze," Celine Crom of the rescue shared with Catstore.co

"People in the neighborhood fed him but no one was taking care of him. He was a big alley cat that everyone was used to seeing."

In spite of all the neighborhood feeding him, he became sick when long stretches of road life had at long last tired him and affected his health permanently. They took him to the vet where they found that he was un-neutered, shrouded in battle scars and tested positive for FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus). His jacket smelled of pee, and his eyes were runny.

Barney experienced difficulty breathing since his nose was totally clogged. One of his ears shriveled because of frostbite and he would require dental treatment and medications for parasites and ear bugs.

Regardless of having a variety of medical problems, all he needed was a few cuddles and ear scratches.

"This huge teddy bear came directly to us for some love. He had huge cheeks, solid muscles. He must be the lord of his neighborhood," the salvage included.

Barney was put on medication to help him fight his illnesses. After two months of recovery, he was finally healed and ready to have his neuter surgery.

"He had a lot of damage when he came in after spending the winter outside. He was lucky that we found him in time to treat him. Now Barney snores a bit when he's asleep. One of his eyes remains a bit runny because of the wound he had on his eyelid.

Mathilde and Patricia took Barney in and fostered him.

In the first few days, he was bashful and always hoping to escape individuals or commotions, however, things started to change when he encountered love and benevolence in foster care.

Barney is never again apprehensive. He's cheerful and trusting. "He gets a kick out of the chance to get cuddles and requests hugs each day. The scared little guy has turned into a genuine teddy bear who likes to wait at the entryway when somebody arrives."

"When we went to visit him, he remembered us. He pushed his head on our hand for snuggles," the rescue shared with Catstore.co

A half year after his rescue, Barney's finally got the ending he deserved.

"He found his perfect match, responsible humans with love and compassion for his life and history," the rescue said.

"He talks a lot and follows his humans everywhere to get attention."

After spending his whole life on the street facing the harshness of the street life alone, Barney finally has a permanent place to that he can call his own.
